Projects
To date, members of Runners of Compassion Nanaimo Chapter have provided funding to the following projects and organizations:
Runners for Kids Program
The Executive of Runners of Compassion Nanaimo is excited about a program entitled “Runners for kids”. This program is designed to help supply some of the many students in Nanaimo who are eager to participate in school running programs or other athletic endeavors but do not have the proper athletic equipment or the means to purchase them. Funds may also be used for the registration fees for various activities.
Runners for Youth Footwear Program
Runners of Compassion Nanaimo has teamed with Frontrunners Footware Ltd who provide shoes, at cost, to Runners of Compassion. Runners of Compassion in turn, provides the footware free of charge to local school children. Runners of Compassion will be working closely with principals, coaches and teachers in Nanaimo to identify those students who are in need of assistance.
Haven Society
The Haven Society programs provide shelter and food, emotional support, counselling, advocacy, court accompaniment, and a safe place for women and children in Nanaimo and area, who deal with issues of violence. Runners of Compassion Nanaimo hopes to provide various forms of support to Haven House to assist in promoting the physical well-being of the women and children.
